Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 2026

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the site owners. SabiBooks uses cookies sparingly and only for essential functionality.

Cookies We Use

SabiBooks uses two categories of cookies: essential cookies for the platform to function, and Google Analytics 4 cookies to measure how the product is used.

Essential cookies (strictly necessary, cannot be disabled):

  • Session management -- Maintains your authenticated session so you do not need to log in on every page
  • Authentication state -- Stores short-lived tokens to verify your identity securely
  • CSRF protection -- Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks by validating form submissions
  • User preferences -- Remembers settings like your preferred language or display options

Google Analytics 4 cookies (product analytics only):

  • _ga, _ga_* -- First-party cookies set by Google Analytics 4 to measure page views, navigation, and aggregate product usage. Expire after 2 years.

We do not enable Google advertising features. Specifically, ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization are set to denied in our Google Consent Mode configuration, which disables cross-site advertising personalization. We do not use advertising pixels, social media tracking, or cross-site tracking cookies.

To opt out of Google Analytics, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or block third-party cookies in your browser settings.

Local Storage and IndexedDB

The SabiBooks web application uses browser-based storage technologies in addition to cookies:

  • Local storage -- Stores authentication tokens and user preferences for a seamless experience
  • IndexedDB -- Stores your business data locally to enable offline functionality. This is a core feature of SabiBooks: you can record sales, update inventory, and manage expenses even without internet. Data syncs automatically when you reconnect
  • Service Worker cache -- Caches application assets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) so the app loads quickly on slow connections and works offline

Third-Party Cookies

When you use SabiBooks features that involve third-party services, those services may set their own cookies:

  • Payment processing -- Paystack's payment forms (loaded in iframes during checkout) may set cookies required for secure payment processing and fraud detection. These are governed by Paystack's privacy policy

We do not control third-party cookies. Please refer to the respective third party's privacy and cookie policies for more information.

Managing Cookies

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View what cookies are stored on your device
  • Delete individual or all cookies
  • Block cookies from specific or all websites
  • Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set

Please note that blocking essential cookies will prevent SabiBooks from functioning properly. You will be unable to log in or use the platform without session cookies enabled.

To clear local storage and IndexedDB data, use your browser's "Clear site data" or "Clear browsing data" option. This will remove locally cached business data, but your data remains safe on our servers and will re-sync when you log in again.
